Roger Dubuis Knights of the Round Table Monotourbillon is an Artistic Ode To The Iconic King Arthur

Swiss Luxury Watchmaker Roger Dubuis has unveiled a new hyper-technical Monotourbillon Knights of the Round Table watch. This eighth edition of the Knights of the Round series has a central Monotourbillon that works as a "shield" against gravitational forces. Roger Dubuis increases the diameter of the balance wheel to improve stability and make the movement less susceptible to the forces of gravity.

History & Craft

The Knights of the Round Table series fuses historic craftsmanship with modern design to create a truly one-of-a-kind collection of clocks. The eighth edition of the Monotourbillon pays homage to the collection's name by adding an equalising round table into the design of the watch. Twelve knights cast in Pink Gold 750/1000 are equally distributed around the watch's core, resisting gravity with their micro-sculpted shields.

Excellence

Each knight is created with his own personality and armour and is fashioned from Pink Gold 750/1000 and tiny sculpted by hand to a height of only 6mm, all of which allude to the famous history of King Arthur. Two gold markers with centred revolving discs were selected to denote the minute and hour positions. Purple Murano glass blocks seem to hover around the Monotourbillon, while the double-faced flange is also sculpted from a single block of Murano glass.

Design

Eight layers of décor were required around the dial. To be consistent with the design and to honour the knight's position at 3 o'clock, the setting system has been lowered to a position at 2 o'clock. When this function is pressed, a little red flag appears to signify that the watch has been switched from winding to setup mode.

Availabilty & Price

The Knights of the Round Table Monotourbillon is available in a 45mm Pink Gold 750/1000 case with a notched bezel and an embossed black calf-leather strap. The extraordinary timepiece will sell for about USD 620,000 USD.
