Luxury Fashion Resale Platform Vestiaire Collective Acquires Tradesy

Vestiaire Collective, the humungous website for fashion resale, has bought US rival Tradesy for an unknown price.

A Tactical & Gigantic Move

Seen as a tactical move, both the companies would be able to substantially expand their size and reach via the merger, directly benefiting their sellers and purchasers as per Vestiaire Collective.

Together, the firms have a 23 million-strong membership base, a catalogue of 5 million products, and a Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of more than 1 billion euros.

Tracy DiNunzio, founder and CEO of Tradesy, commended

Vestiaire Collective for helping Tradesy become "the dominant marketplace in our worldwide sector."

"With today's deal, we're in a position to greatly enhance the fashion shopping experience in the United States,"
DiNunzio added.
"The Tradesy team and I am ecstatic to work with the exceptionally outstanding team at Vestiaire Collective to further our common purpose."

Aiming global

Vestiaire Collective is expanding at a fast pace, fuelled by growing customer demand for sustainable and pre-owned goods.

The Paris-based company has developed especially rapidly in the United States, which has become its biggest market. Since the start of the year, the firm has increased its US GMV by 75% year on year.

A Defining Moment

Vestiaire Collective CEO Maximilian Bittner called the transaction as a "watershed moment" for the luxury clothes reselling business.

"By partnering with Tracy and her team, we're enabling our consumers to continue driving change by making secondhand fashion a first option,"
he added.
"With this purchase, Vestiaire Collective demonstrates its commitment to become a genuinely global player, supporting circularity in Europe, the United States, and Asia-Pacific."

Vestiaire Collective also announced recently its plans to build a new authentication centre in the Los Angeles region – the company's fifth worldwide and its second in the United States.

Vestiaire Collective is the world's top marketplace for attractive pre-owned clothing. It is committed to moving the fashion industry toward a more sustainable future via the promotion of the circular fashion movement as an alternative to overproduction, overconsumption, and the fashion industry's wasteful practises.
