There are some things that only she can pull off. Kim Kardashian wore a Caution Tape-Wrapped Balenciaga Catsuit absolutely stealing all attention and here's How She Did It.
Kim Kardashian has been sporting some of Demna Gvasalia's most daring and uncompromising ensembles since she became a de facto inspiration for the designer at Balenciaga early last year. There was, of course, the full-body black bodysuit with a train she wore to the 2021 Met Gala—with her face completely concealed, it was interpreted as a wink to her own inescapable celebrity—or the hot pink catsuits, one of which featured an enormous ruffled cloak, that she wore for her October Saturday Night Live debut.
Indeed, Kardashian has grown so associated with Balenciaga over the last year that she was named an official face of the company last month with Isabelle Huppert for the firm's summer 2022 campaign.
While it was unsurprising to see Kardashian attend tthe latest Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week, held at the Le Bourget exhibition centre on the city's north-eastern outskirts, her choice of outfit was less expected: an athletic top and leggings entirely covered in Balenciaga-branded packing tape that had been wrapped around her by hand, as well as a matching version of the brand's cult Hourglass handbag. (Vanessa Friedman, the New York Times' top fashion critic, who sat beside Kardashian during the event, remarked that it created a "sticky tape-y sound" as she walked and voiced anxiety that it may rupture when she sat. Fortunately, their suspicions proved to be unfounded.)
She headed to Instagram on Sunday (March 7, 2022) to share her preparations for the Balenciaga Winter '22 presentation at Paris Fashion Week, where she also donned the ensemble. In the film, four employees aid her with wrapping her whole body in yellow Balenciaga-branded warning tape from neck to toe.
'Getting ready for the @balenciaga concert,' the 41-year-old SKIMS star captioned the footage.
Several more photographs and videos showed her laid back on a chair, with aides busy wrapping bands of tape around her arms and legs.
It was a fittingly dramatic start to one of Gvasalia's most spectacular fashion presentations to date. The runway had a post-apocalyptic vibe, with a vast set resembling an Arctic tundra and machines pumping out snow, wind, and fog—at one point, there were even bursts of fake thunder and lightning. Models marched to a deafening industrial techno backdrop, their floor-length skirts billowing behind them.
It was the type of epic spectacle that only Gvasalia could create—that is, if you could tear your gaze away from Kardashian's outrageous front-row ensemble for a second.
