Aakar by Aprajita Toor is an Ode to Lippan Art, An Ancient Kutch Art Form

Taking a Leaf out of Lippan Art

Based on Lippan Art, Aakar by Aprajita Toor is a beautiful footwear collection that encapsulates the spirit and cultural vibrance of Kutch. Lippan Art is an ancient art form from Kutch and is hugely popular within the Kutchi community especially among those who are close to their roots and tradition.

Lippan Art is also referred to as 'the glittering art of Gujarat'. It is a simple ethnic tradition in these areas to create interesting art on inner walls of houses using mixture of clay and camel dung creating intricate design patterns with the help of glass pieces.

Inspiration from the past & step into the future

This exclusive age old traditional Kutchi craft has inspired Aakar to recreate the traditional classic one-toe loops in handcrafted Nappa leather and establish contemporary style statements for your steps. The eclectic blend of heels and flats combined in gorgeous colours of yellows, pinks, oranges with a black and white base, create the right pop to accentuate the richness of any Indian, indo-western, and western fashion that you flaunt.

Aprajita Toor opines “Aakar strives to exhibit the essence, unconditional love and old-world charm for the Kutchi culture and art. Prism, one of our previous collections was a foray into the Lippan art form where we tried to showcase subtle and neutral tones. This time around I have experimented with vibrant hues, multi-colour embroidery and intricate mirror work that reflect liveliness.”

Price Range - Rs.4,399/- onwards.
